The 10 shades

| Dark Brown | Chocolate brown, dark hair with some warmth |
| Medium Brown | Caramel-to-mid brown |
| Light Brown (warm) | Warm light brown, caramel undertones |
| Dark Blonde / Light Brown (cool) | Cool / ashy light brown |
| Blonde | Medium-to-bright blonde, light platinum |
| Auburn / Red | Reddish, auburn, copper |
| Gray | Uniform gray hair, no obvious black/white separation |
| Salt & Pepper | Mix of black + white visible strands |
| White | Pure white / very light cool gray |

1. What's the dominant color of your hair today?
Look at your hair under natural daylight. The dominant color is the one you'd describe first if someone asked.
2. Do you color your hair?
If yes, match the color of the dye, not your natural color.
3. Do you have visible white/gray strands?
- None or very few → match the dominant color
- Visible at temples / patches → consider Salt & Pepper or one step lighter
- 50%+ gray → Gray or Salt & Pepper
