The 4 questions that pick your shade

Question 1 · What is the dominant color of your hair under NATURAL light?
Stand near a window during daylight. Take a photo with your phone (flash off). Compare to the 10 shades:
- Black (true black, no warmth)
- Dark Brown (chocolate, dark with warmth)
- Medium Brown (caramel)
- Light Brown (warm)
- Dark Blonde / Light Brown (cool/ashy)
- Blonde (medium-to-bright)
- Auburn / Red
- Gray (uniform gray)
- Salt & Pepper (mix of black + white strands visible)
- White (pure white, very light cool gray)
Question 2 · Do you dye your hair?
If yes — match the dye, NOT your natural color. The hair on your head right now is what the shade has to blend into.
Question 3 · Do you have visible white/gray strands?
- None or very few → match the dominant color
- Visible at temples / patches → consider Salt & Pepper, or pick one step lighter than your dominant
- 50%+ gray → Gray or Salt & Pepper
Question 4 · Are you matching a beard or only scalp?
If matching to your beard color, sample on a small visible patch first. Beard hair often differs from scalp hair color (usually slightly warmer / redder for darker hair, slightly grayer for lighter hair).
